The user manual contains important information and it is
recommended that the user reads it. Of particular importance is the section relating to the setting
of the analyser's reference level. Failure to set the reference level correctly can result in lower level signals not being seen
and usually results in this commonly-asked question,
"When I connect an antenna to my radio, I cannot see any signals the
88-108MHz FM band, or just a few signals shown at a very low level. Why
is this happening and how do I fix it?"
"The answer my friend is not blowing In the wind" (With apologies to
Bob Dylan)
The answer can be found on page 6 of the user manual. Setting the reference
level at, or close to zero is like turning the RF gain control on your
receiver to minimum - with the results you would expect, a high
noise floor and low
sensitivity. The analyser does not incorporate an AGC
control, nor should it. The gain (and ultimate dynamic range) is set
by the reference level control.
A shortcut link to the manual will have been placed on your desktop by the analyser's
installer. A copy of the manual can also be found in the analyser's
installation folder:
C:/Program Files
(x86)/Andrew Developments/RSP-Spectrum Analyser .
A copy of the manual may also be viewed here. Click here to view the
Analyser user manual.
The manual will open in a new browser tab, just close the tab when you
are finished. You will not leave the website, you will still be on this page.
If you want to save a copy of the manual, right-click on the above link and
select
Save Link As... The manual will be downloaded
to wherever your browser saves downloaded files.
